Currently use Motul Specific 0W20 (VW508) on my 2019 MK7.5 GTI since this is the spec recommended. Lower weight oil does not mean lower quality oil. I would use the spec recommended by VW for your engine code and/or what your tuner recommends if you’re tuned. shadyplz • 3 yr. ago.

So is the the engine for the gti and golf R are the same gen3 ea888 but the internals have different parts numbers the head gasket, pistons, rods, and exhaust valves are different than the gti. Ive heard the R could have a forged tranny from the factory since its 4 motion so don't expect the same intervals for the R and Gti cause the tranny

My regular garage says 4.6 Liters and another VW specialist garage says 4 liters max! The specialist says that oil should only be checked on a warm engine thats been sitting for at least 3 minutes.
TDI. 2012 Touareg TDI Executive. Dec 21, 2015. #11. Pull the dipstick and wipe on rag, Reinsert the dipstick, remove and wipe on rag, Continue until you have wiped enough on the rag to lower the level where the reduce oil level light does not come on. Stop dipping and wiping. Problem solved.
