On PC the kick isn't even listed in the options menu, it's a combo move that can only be triggered by combining two other inputs. Dark souls 3 at Soul level 1
The next thing I would try is going into dark souls then when u hit the title screen press shift and tab at the same time and then at the top right it should say controller configuration then when u are there try pressing square to change ur template and try to find the recommended template for ur controller or If u cant, use one of the regular templates for any game and try that
